The kickoff of the PolyNOR’s first Jackup construction
Polynor Drilling Ltd. is pleased to announce the project kickoff of its first Jackup construction, Polynor #1, a GustoMSC CJ-46 X100-D. The project has been in the engineering and procurement stage for several months, and it is pleased to announce that construction began on Dec 1, 2013 on time and on schedule at CMHI in Shekou, China.

Polynor has plans for an additional two rigs to be ordered at CMHI. Procurement of the drilling package from NOV has already begun on Polynor # 2, and announcements regarding project kickoff will be forthcoming.

The contract signing ceremony of PolyNOR’s first jack-up rig On 2nd August 2013, PolyNOR Drilling and CMHI (China Merchants Heavy Industry CO.,LTD) entered into a contract about the construction of its first jackup – Polynor #1, a GustoMSC CJ-46 X100-D (CH46).

The classification of the rig is American Bureau of Shipping . The overall length, breadth and depth are 95.3m,68.3m and 8.0m respectively. The living quarters can accommodate up to 120persons.

Polynor is a newly established investment company focused on new buildings backed by the Poly (China) Finance and Lease Holdings Group in partnership with Norwegian technical partners.  Poly (China) Finance and Lease Holdings Group CEO Li Dong proclaimed at the ceremony “As a company we have watched the offshore industry with keen interest for many years and decided this summer to make an entry into the sector. We believe the coming fleet replacement of legacy Jackups and new emerging markets in Mexico, Middle East and also from China will create sustained demand in the short to medium term.”

Polynor has engaged Standard Consulting as its technical site supervision team. At the kickoff ceremony, Polynor shareholder, Jamon Alexander Rahn, affirmed “When establishing this company and selecting the right partners, we demanded that we use the best site supervision team on the market for the CJ-46 design and we found that in OysteinIkdahl’s Standard Consulting. We view a proper site supervision team as the best investment we can undertake as a new company to ensure we build a proper and high quality rig.”
